There are also 9 black and white bands: the 4 white bands representing the provinces of Lower Brittany and the 5 black bands the provinces of Upper Brittany. The Breton flag symbolizes freedom and also evokes the attachment that the Bretons have, as I can have, for their territory and their identity.
